Guitarist Gerd Lücking leaves the band.

Some days ago guitarist Gerd Lücking became a proud father. Now he decided to leave the band COURAGEOUS.

"That's a shock for us", singer Chris is still knocked on. "We are very disappointed, but we totally understand his decision. Maybe everybody would also do that. The only thing we can do is to make his last show to a killer blast. Now the anniversary-show has a happy and a sad face."

Gerds last show will be on Wednesday, November 12th 2008, at the Nachtleben in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. The first intention was to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their first album "Listen" only, but now it became the character of a goodbye-concert too.

"He joined the band exactly for ten years while we recorded the first album", means his "partner-in-crime" Oliver. "There is no perfect time to leave the band, but now it's like the end of a circle. Another chapter of history is done."

What will the band do next? We'll keep you informed.
Now it's time to catch one of the tickets for the show to make this evening to a unforgettable memory!

News from the C-Camp

The band COURAGEOUS didn't renew the expired contract with Mausoleum Records, in spite of an existing option. They also didn't renew the expired contract with their management "Skydra Management" by mutual consent. Until further notice the whole band business, especially promotion and booking, will be handled by themselves.

"It was time for a change", tells singer Chris. "Many people say it's like a step back, but maybe sometimes you have to do a step back in order to see and think clear again. We reached a point where we couldn’t go any further. We had so many bad experiences in the past, this negative feelings started infecting the inner circle. So we had to act. The main thing was to recover control about what’s going on with the music and the business of the band."

As they are aware that they could hardly manage the whole thing all alone, they are looking for new partners, especially for a new record-company.

"We are not under pressure at the moment. And we are no greenhorns anymore. It must be acceptable for both sides. And if it doesn't work, we have also a plan for this situation."

Since a couple of days the band is back in the studio to record the follow-up of "Downfall Of Honesty". But Chris doesn't really want to tell us more.

"It's right. Jan already recorded his drumparts for the next album, but it's too early for details yet", Chris explains. "There are so many plans what's to do, when we could release and how the new album will sound like, but COURAGEOUS is really capricious, so everything could change within the next moment. We are feeling quite comfortable now, our batteries are reloaded and we are ready to rock."

Expect the unexpected.

COURAGEOUS announces new bass player!

The new five-string-player is Thomas Neitsch. He is native from Berlin, Germany, and he already played a show with the band. The premiere was the show "Tribute To Elvis" at the Batschkapp in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, on christmas. Actually he joined the pre-production for the upcoming album.

"Thomas is a very nice person and his playing is really awesome", says Chris. "Though it was very hard for us to replace Jürgen, Thomas brought back some lost energy, we have a lot of fun together and there's no doubt he's one of the best bass player I've ever met. For us it was the best decision we could make. Now we are complete at last and the machine is still rolling!"

COURAGEOUS covers TANKARD

On Friday, August 31st, TANKARD will release a „Best Of“-Double-CD celebrating their 25th anniversary. They invited some bands and friends to interpret their songs for the bonus disc. COURAGEOUS too will be part of this with their version of the classic “The Morning After” from 1988.

“Both bands are very close friends, we are living in the same city and every single musician of COURAGEOUS has grown up with the music of TANKARD”, explains guitarist Gerd Lücking. “For us it’s an honour and a matter of course being part of this project. No question that we had to do it in our own special COURAGEOUS way.”

The double album, on the regular disc TANKARD re-recorded their own classics, will be released on August 31st by AFM Records/ Soulfood.

"Hey dudes, I just want to give a sign of life from the depths of our rehearsal studio. We are focused on writing new material for the next album at the moment and it works great. A new musical direction? musical changes? I don't know yet, everything sounds awesome - too much information! I only can promise that the new album will be fucking heavy and some songs will be really fast.

Until now we don't have a release date, because there is still so many business to do first. But we leave this to our management. We do what we can do the best: making music!

But we needed a little break of everything, so Jan and Gerd took us to a show from CYNIC at the Nachtleben in Frankfurt/Main, Germany (see the picture). Thanks a lot to both, because so many notes, this was bad medicine for a singer :-) A new influence to our songwriting? Well, let's see ...

That's all for now, because Oliver bothers again with a new monster riff ... Rock On!"

Shock in the C-Camp

After more than twelve eventful years bass player Jürgen Wieland announced his retreat from the band. Within the last few months, the five-string player suffered lots of troubles in joining job, family and music responsibilities. So he felt that there was no other way than to leave. All of the band feel the deepest regret about his decision.

"Jürgen kept us posted all the time about his thoughts, so we were already prepared since some months to receive this slap", tells singer Chris. "Nevertheless, to find ourselves in front of the matter settled once and forever seems to be hard stuff to us. We are not only losing one of the most talented bass player, who influenced in a very important way the sound of our music, but also a very trustful person and a real good friend. Attributes, which are hard to find in music business."

You can find more information about Jürgen and his decision ... read more

Due to this fact COURAGEOUS is now looking for a new bass player (male/female). Whoever thinks him-/herself addicted to this position should not hesitate to contact the band immediately: contact@courageousmusic.de
